I needed to replace two broken plastic sliders on my backpack. These are great quality, and they have the perfect amount of "give" when I want to adjust the strap, and they hold when I want the strap to move.

These are nicer than the typical nylon ladder locks. Would look good on your "dress" black messenger bag, backpack, or luggage. Zinc is what some people deride as "pot metal" - but it does not rust much, and typical tensile strength of zinc castings is about 25,000 psi - about the same as normal aluminum - while nylon is about 10,000 psi.
